Dear Dr. Donna Randall,
As a student of Albion College I deeply care about the future of our institution. In your recent memorandum, you stated that the administration would do everything in their power to prevent budget issues from affecting the current student body. However, calling into question tenure-tracked professors creates widespread job instability. The academic community is small, and it is essential that professors understand Albion College respects the institution of tenure.
I support the Keeping Liberal Arts at Work campaign and pledge to never donate to Albion unless tenure-track professors have job security. This can be accomplished through:
- Budget transparency
- Preventing a process of firing which involves the professors evaluating their colleagues
- Initiating a review process which provides evidence that denying tenure and removal of a tenure-track position as the only fiscally responsible option
